Last weekend year 12 students of Bellver participated in the regional session of this year’s EYP edition.
EYP consists of a series of meetings where teenagers discuss current issues affecting the European Union. This year the topics debated were: the issue of keeping Europe united, the refugee crisis, green energy and transport and the relevance of ICT in today’s society. Other schools from Mallorca participated as well. The session lasted two days. We spent Saturday morning getting to know our team members and the people we would be competing against by teambuilding activities. After lunch, the hard work really began when the delegates had to craft their resolution corresponding to their topic with help from their respective chair. On Sunday, their skills were tested in a nerve-wracking debate that lasted five hours in which the delegates had to dress in a very formal manner. We are very happy to say that we learnt a lot from this experience and would love to participate again if we had the honour of being selected for nationals.
