Year 10 from Bellver International College took part in an unique expedition of the 'Duke of Edinburgh Award' (an organisation that allows teenagers from ages 14-24 to take part in a major challenge and explore their abilities and skills) to Es Pixarells.
Accompanied by two teachers, the trip lasted 2 days, and consisted of the students walking from Son Amer to the Binifaldó during the day and camping in Es Pixarells for the night. On the way to the camping site, they had to orienteer their way through the mountains and forests of the area with maps. The next day, they took another route through the mountains and had the chance to explore a cave called 'Sa Cometa d'es Morts'. During the exclusive expedition, the pupils learned how to use map skills, develop team work, discover how to mount tents, cook using gas stoves and much more! It was a fun and interesting expedition that taught all pupils many different things that will definitely not be forgotten by them. By Kim Gehrke, Y10
