The members of the Bellver Science Club were set the task of spanning a one metre gap with copies of the Majorca Daily Bulletin so that a model car could pass over it. What seemed an impossible task at first soon had the students trying out different ideas and, after some failures, hit on a design that involved rolling the newspapers into thin tubes. Within no time at all they had rolled up the newspapers and developed a way to join them together. The bridge was soon built and easily supported the model car. The students are now keen to improve their design and look for other engineering construction projects to make from old copies of the Majorca Daily Bulletin.
